IPU is now an IMPA registered supplier for marine purchasers
IPU is now a member of IMPA the world’s leading marine purchasing association. IMPA’s aim is to ‘promote and facilitate co-operation and understanding between purchasers and suppliers in the global maritime business’.
The International Marine Purchasing Association was formed in 1978 by a group of senior purchasing executives. They wanted to create an industry ‘voice’ to represent the interests of purchasers within the marine industry.
Over the past 39 years the association has grown significantly and now represents over 700 members across the world. This includes ship owners, operators, managers, equipment manufacturers and marine suppliers.
The association provides members with industry news, educational white papers, networking events and training courses.
IMPA Briefing Paper
As part of our membership, IPU was asked to produce a briefing paper for IMPA’s Marine Trader magazine. This paper explains the importance of reliability for on-board engines and how a primary or secondary non-electric starter can vastly improve it. You can view our briefing paper on page 24 in the February edition of Marine Trader (Issue 1-8).
IMPA Stores Guide
IPU’s membership has also meant that Engine Starting products will be added to their Marine Stores Guide. The stores guide was first published in 1978 and is designed to enable marine purchasers to source goods quicker.
For marine purchasers time literally is money and the supply chain can be complex. The Marine Stores Guide is used by shipping companies worldwide to remove the hassle from the purchasing process, save money and critically, save time.
It contains thousands of products so you can find what you want, when you want and receive it wherever you’re docked. Language isn’t a barrier either, because products are identified by a universal six-digit code. So you need to locate a spare part in Shanghai or an immersion suit in Italy? Not a problem.
